What is the St. Marys Astronomy Club?
The St. Mary’s Astronomy club includes a variety of projects we have done or could potentially do; Black hole patrol, radio Jove, light pollution, SETI, etc. Approximately twenty students compose the high school Astronomy Club, and ten comprise the Middle school, varying obviously. In the high school, meetings are held once a week, and the middle school meets twice a rotation. The club presents and offers students opportunities to operate telescopes, search for extraterrestrial life, annually compile a project to present at the American Astronomical Society conference, and partake in the trip to Pine Mountain Observatory, in which students will be able to converse with astronomers, physicists, and work on projects, Solar Spectroscopy included.
